Since I walked into my first yoga class, something intense and unique happened to me. While trying to concentrate on my body's work and on the rhythm of my breathing, suddenly - with no previous notice - I felt an overwhelming peace of mind and relaxation. It was as if for a moment, the stormy waves typical of my nature and that often shook me, calmed down. Out of the class, I walked slowly back home embracing that devastating feeling. It was as if for the first time since my childhood I felt the fresh air caressing the skin of my face, my arms and legs. I could see things around me more clearly, hear the close and far sounds more sharply, recognize them, understand them and I could "silence the chatter around me to freely listen to the sound of my true voice", as somebody beautifully described. For a slight trice, I was aware of my true nature.
That was the time when I opened my heart and eyes to the world. The real one, tangible, objective, everlasting. Not the one designed by my illusions. That was the first step to my lifelong journey.
Many things have happened since I walked that very first step into life and the more I forward in that path, the more aware I become.
Through this approach, I started liberating myself, acknowledging my limits and my weaknesses and embracing them for what they are. I finally stopped to look for perfection. Yoga helped me to emancipate from negative feelings, breathing them out and trying not to absorb them. Connecting with my true Self allowed me to be less vulnerable to life inevitable changes and it has been the key to shift my focus towards the present moment, living, accepting and enjoying life how it is offered to me.
